Major Increase in Envirowise Funding

Envirowise has announced a major increase in its funding. The British Government has revealed that Envirowise will receive over 14 million in additional funding in 2005/2006.

From this month, Envirowise will be able to offer waste minimisation and resource efficiency services to more UK companies and in more sectors. It will also now be in a position to extend its existing services.

This additional funding forms part of the government's commitment to return additional Landfill Tax receipts to business in a way that supports improving resource efficiency and waste management. With this additional cash injection, Envirowise will be able to offer:

• More on-site visits.
• Bigger and better projects, such as The Big Splash and Retail Therapy, which have already helped UK companies save 7 million.
• Increased support for Waste Minimisation Clubs.
• More investment in partnerships and joint initiatives with intermediaries, making it easier for businesses to get help locally.
• Help to sectors that may not have benefited from Envirowise's services before.
