Manufacturers Show How to Ditch the Divide

Manufacturers well known in the ceramic and allied industries -
Georgia-Pacific, Akzo Nobel, BNFL - as well as BMW and Trafford Park
Bakeries, will show how they have replaced 'them and us' style industrial
relations with innovative union partnerships at a Masterclass at
Manchester's Manufacturing Institute on 15 May 2003.

Managers from these companies will line up alongside representatives from
the Transport & General Workers Union, the Trades Union Congress and
Amicus-AEEU.

They will demonstrate the ways in which managers and union representatives
are embracing new methods of collaborative working to manage change, improve
productivity and add value to the business.

Insights will also be given into using learning partnerships and agreements
to improve skills, flexibility, commitment and job security. Thanks to the
Institute's status as a Regional Centre for Manufacturing Excellence,
generous subsidies are available to North West UK manufacturers attending
this seminar.
