Blasch Launches New Line of "086" High Performance Crucibles

Blasch Precision Ceramics has launched a new line of high-performance, lower cost ceramic crucibles that can replace Zirconia crucibles in the production of alloys commonly used in aerospace, medical, and other difficult applications.

Called simply "086," the new crucibles, made of a proprietary Blasch composition, offer several advantages over Zirconia crucibles. 086 crucibles are less expensive, more corrosion and crack resistant. Further, they deliver more heats per campaign than Zirconia crucibles. The 086 crucibles are available in sizes from 35 lbs up to 100 lbs.

In addition to higher temperature stabilization, field reports indicate improvements in corrosion resistance, leading to longer service life, including the alloying of highly reactive elemental additions such as yttrium.

Blasch offers several ceramic materials especially developed for use in foundries. Aluminum titanate is characterized by excellent thermal shock and corrosion resistance; zero thermal expansion; very low wettability by non-ferrous metals, and very long life. That results in clean melts and high ROI. Available aluminum titanate parts include riser tubes, dosing tubes, sprue bushes, breakrings, spouts, and fill tubes. Custom parts are available on request.
