Spilling the Beans on Manufacturing Excellence
A team from what is claimed to be one of Britain's best factories will show others how they rise to the demand of the world's most demanding customers at a Masterclass at Manchester's Manufacturing Institute on 23 May 2001.
The Factory of the Year award winning team from the automotive components company Schefenacker will explain how they have turned the operation around to meet the rigorous world class performance criteria of customers such as Toyota and Nissan.
Judges of the awards described Schefenacker as "an extraordinarily accomplished example of manufacturing excellence". The plant is said to have perfected slick performance throughout every area of the company and has mastered Just-in-Time delivery, every time.
A five-strong Schefenacker team led by European Regional Managing Director Laurie West will explain their winning formula, which is characterised by lean manufacturing, tight knit cellular working, effective production sequencing, impressive changeovers and flexibility.
