Refractories

Refractory installations tend to be large units central to major industrial processes. Improvements in design, operation and material selection have increased campaign lifetimes, however problems do occur. Failures are by default normally expensive in both rebuild and also in production downtime.

Our extensive track record of development, testing and expertise gives us a unique insight into problems.

Our areas of expertise include:

  • Workmanship - has the work on the installation been conducted properly and if not what impact has this had on the installation
  • Product conformity – have materials been used that reach the specified for the site and if not what impact that may have had
  • Site investigation post mortem or routine – evaluation of all the factors involved in failure from design to operation to physical, thermal and chemical factors
  • Design criteria
  • Material Properties
  • Material selection at installation and design

We have worked on many cases where expert advice is required in the settlement of cases from major installation failures to small specific problems across a range of industrial uses of refractories.
